SNI is the only standard that applies nationally in Indonesia. SNI was formulated by the Technical Committee (formerly known as the Technical Committee) and determined by the Indonesian National Standardization Agency (BSN). The formulation of SNI itself is based on law in PP 102 of 2000 concerning National Standardization.
In a product, SNI is applied in the form of a stamp on every item that is in accordance with the provisions set by the government.
The mark guarantees the feasibility or quality of products that are in accordance with the standards imposed by the government. Many positive sides or advantages that can be taken from products that have received the SNI label.
From the consumer side, this will guarantee the security rights that use these items. Consumers can feel comfortable and confident if the products they use have SNI standards.
Meanwhile, in terms of business actors or producers, the SNI label will protect the rights and obligations in the production or marketing process of a product. This becomes more value because producers will have a guarantee of quality in the goods they produce so opportunities to penetrate the market are more open.
However, especially for producers, there are still many business actors or businesses that still do not really understand how to manage or obtain SNI labels for the goods they produce.
There are many factors behind this, for example, feeling lazy, do not need, or feel safe with a product that has no SNI. In fact, having SNI products is very important, both in terms of security, legality, and trust of consumers.
The following are ways or procedures to administer or obtain an SNI label.
- Fill in the SPPT SNI Application Form
SPPT is a Product Certificate Using the SNI Mark. The first step, you must fill out this SPPT form. In the process, when filling in, you will need several documents as attachments, namely:
- Photocopy of a certified ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Management System certificate. This certificate can be obtained at the Quality System Certification Institute (LSSM) accredited by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN).
- The certificate from the country of origin LSSM that already has a mutual recognition agreement with KAN, if the product is an imported product from abroad.
- Verification of Requests
The next step is to verify the request made by LSPro-Pustan. In the process, a number of things will be verified, namely the scope of the audit location and the ability to understand the local language.
This process will usually take one day and after verification is complete you will be given an invoice about the details of the fees that must be paid.
- Producer Quality Management System Audit
The next stage is checking the suitability of the implementation of the quality management system. An examination will be made about the completeness and adequacy of the manufacturer’s quality management system documents against the SPPT SNI requirements.
In the adequacy audit, the team will review the Quality Management System documents that we have. If a discrepancy is found in this case, the correction must be made within a maximum of two months.
- Product Sample Testing
In the process, the LSPro-Pustan Team will come to the production site and take product samples for testing. The LSPro-Pustan Deperin guarantees that its officers are experts in the field.
This testing process is carried out in an accredited testing laboratory or inspection body. If done in a manufacturer’s laboratory, a witness is required when testing.
Product samples are labeled as test samples (LCU) and sealed. This process requires a minimum of 20 working days.
If it turns out the results are not appropriate, you will be asked to test the product yourself to match, then check again by the LSPro-Pustan team.
- Product Sample Assessment The
testing laboratory issues the Test Result Certification. If the test results do not meet the SNI requirements, the applicant is asked to immediately retest. If the results of the retest are not in accordance with SNI requirements, the application for SPPT SNI is rejected.
- Certification Decision
After all the above processes have been completed, the team will gather audit results and test results. All audit documents and test results become material for the panel meeting of the SPPT SNI LSPro-Pustan Department of Industry.
The process of preparing the material usually takes seven working days, while the panel meeting lasts for one day.
- Provision of SPPT-SNI
LSPro-Pustan will clarify the company or producer concerned after the panel meeting is over.
The decision to award certificates by the SPPT SNI Review Panel is based on the product evaluation results that meet: administrative requirements (legal aspects), SNI provisions, and the production process as well as the quality management system that is implemented can guarantee product quality consistency.
If all of the conditions are fulfilled, the LSPro-Pustan Deperin will issue the SPPT SNI for the applicant’s product.
